Queen Charlotte Yacht Club Splash Newsletter – March 2010

Hello All,

Wow, what a fantastic weekend we all had and so far the feedback has been nothing but positive from the away families, who just loved the regatta, and many said it was the best regatta they have been too. Many commented on how friendly everyone was and what a great feel there was around the club.

Lots of hard work was put in by many people, club members and extra volunteers alike. A HUGE ‘thank you’ from the Commodore and the Organising Committee to you all.

Well done to all our local sailors, what a great result, you all did Queen Charlotte Yacht Club proud.

For the final results, make sure you have a look on the QCYC website.

This coming weekend was meant to be the ‘Club Picnic’ at Momorangi Bay, but due to the fact that everyone has been so busy with the last regatta we have decided to cancel it and do something else instead.

On Saturday (6 March) there is a picnic lunch at Kumototo Bay where there will be games and fun. All sailors will sail from QCYC, so be ready to go at 11am. The QCYC support boats will take the lunches and any gear you will need over there and they will accompany the sailors over. If anyone wants to invite and include other family members there will be room on the support boats to take extras over.

On Sunday 7 March we have decided to run the Mega Mitre 10 Regatta (was to be the following weekend) so again, be ready to go around 11am with the first race at 12.00. There are some fantastic prizes to be won, so make sure you are rigged up and ready to go. Great Fun!!

This is a Line Honours regatta (which means if you cross the line first you are first – no handicap) for the Green Fleet Optimists, Open Fleet Optimists and P Class fleet. The Intermediate and Seniors will be Handicapped.

Graeme Ellis will the Officer of the Day.

The Mega Mitre 10 regatta to be held on Sunday will be 4 races and there will now be prizes for 1,2,3, for Line Honours and 1,2,3 for Handicap winner for Green Fleet Opti and Open Fleet Opti.

1,2,3 for P Class for Line Honours

1,2,3 for Line Honours and 1,2,3 for Handicap winner for Intermediate and Seniors.

Also there will be spot prizes given away, so all in all there are heaps of prizes, so well worth coming along and sailing on Sunday.

Make sure you are all there, rigged up ready to go around 11am, first race will get away at 12.00 sharp.

After having to cancel sailing last Sunday due to the tsunami threat, we have a bit of extra stock in the kitchen. If you would like to buy MORO BARS for $1.50 each and UP & GO also for $1.50 each, please email Ange Gifford on This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and Ange will pack your order up ready for collection. We don’t want to carry that stock over the winter, so if you can help out here that would be great.
